Playoffs unlikely, but team gets big win over Shiloh, 42-7

The football team rebounded after a tough Oct. 17 loss to Parkview to nab a huge Oct. 24 win over Shiloh, 42-7. Quarterback Michael Polascik seems to have brushed aside his early-season leg injury, as he sparked the Comets with 264 yards through the air on 12-21 passing with four touchdowns. Do-it-all junior wide receiver Jonathan Krause had a 95-yard kick return for a score. He also leads the region with 50 catches for 508 yards. Last Friday, the team visited Brookwood, as it tried to move closer to the fourth playoff spot in Region 8-AAAAA. The Comets welcome Berkmar on Friday, but may have seen their playoff hopes dashed in their 21-7 loss to Brookwood. … The basketball teams are set to tip off later this month, and both teams are expecting big things this season. The girls team failed to make the state championship game last year for the first time in three years, but with a number of returning seniors, head coach Mike Allison certainly could expect another run. Lindsay Nagy leads the charge for the Lady Comets.
