Pace Academy 20, West Forsyth 10

How the game was won: In a game that was called just before halftime due to threat of weather, Pace Academy quarterback Gunnor Faulk took control in the deciding second quarter to allow his team to pull ahead and put away the game. The Knights put together a scoring drive that started at their own 19-yard and ended with Faulk running in a 7-yard touchdown.

Top Performers: Trey Blount added a touchdown run and Patrick Markwalter kicked in a 30-yard field goal. Scott Leven had a fumble recovery for the Knights.

Northside-Warner Robins 49, Henry County 0

How the game was won: Northside-Warner Robins outgained Henry County 433-14 in total yardage and used a 28-point second quarter to cushion a comfortable 35-0 halftime lead.

Top Performers: Travon Willis had three touchdowns, one on a 56-yard reception in the first quarter and two on short rushing scores. Marquaevious Williams caught a 7-yard pass from Tobias Oliver. Oliver finished with 24 yards rushing and a short touchdown to go with his 11-16 passing for 171 yards and two scores. Daniel Neal scored on a 6-yard dash to cap off a 65-yard drive. The Eagles were a perfect 6-of-6 on offensive drives.

Houston County 49, Peach County 31

How the game was won: Houston County took advantage of two Andrew Brown interceptions that kept the game just out of reach for the Peach County Trojans. The Bears went into the half tied 14-14 but pulled away after in the third quarter with a 28-14 edge. Houston County scored on every possession in the second half, outscoring Peach 35-17. The Bears defense has produced five interceptions during their 2-0 start.

Top Performers: Jake Fromm led Houston County with four touchdown passes. Fromm connected with Amari Colbert on two passes, one a 44-yarder. Kimar Robinson added a 14-yard reception and Eli Watson grabbed an 82-yard pass. Jaevan West rushed in from 15 yards and Shelton Horton scored on two short runs. James Jackson scored a 44-yard touchdown and a 3-yard touchdown for Peach County.

Glynn Academy 17, Ware County 10

How the game was won: Glynn Academy broke a 10-10 halftime tie with a touchdown late in the third quarter and held on for the win at Ware’s Memorial Stadium.

Top performers: Tyler Grant scored the deciding third-quarter touchdown for the Red Terrors, rushing from 10 yards out. DeeJay Dallas gave Glynn Academy a 7-3 lead in the first quarter with a 52-yard rushing score. Banks Entwistle hit a 35-yard field goal in the second quarter. Glynn Academy has now beaten Ware County three times in under a year, winning last year in the regular season and the Class AAAAA semifinals.

Fitzgerald 56, Irwin County 19

How the game was won: The Purple Hurricanes amassed 469 total yards led by Oklahoma State-commit JD King’s 137 yards and two touchdowns off 10 carries. King only appeared in the first half as Fitzgerald cruised.

Top Performers: James Graham finished 4-of-8 for 80 yards passing and two touchdowns while tacking on 75 yards rushing. Taylor Gauldin ripped off 80 yards on eight carries. Irwin County managed just 175 yards of offense after taking an early 6-0 lead. Jay Ashley totaled 84 rushing yards on 12 totes.

Dalton 28, Calhoun 13

How the game was won: Dalton outscored the Yellowjackets 14-3 in the first half to push the and Calhoun could not answer. Quarterback J.P. Tighe connected with Zek Cobb for two touchdowns as the Catamounts pulled away and with two minutes left, Nasir Love-Porter had an interception that sealed the victory. This is Dalton’s first win over Calhoun since 2008.
Top Performers: Tighe connected with Zek Cobb on passes of 28 and 23 yards. Ahmaad Tanner scored on two rushing touchdowns of 14 and seven yards. Nasir Love-Porter had an interception in the win.

Grady 14, Woodward Academy 10

How the game was won: Caylin Newton plunged into the endzone from one yard out to give Grady a 14-10 lead over Woodward Academy with 6:31remaining in the fourth quarter. The weather-delayed game was called fewer than two minutes later because of curfew, allowing the Knights to hold on for a home win.

Top performers: Grady’s DiMarcus Clay got the scoring started with a one-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. Woodward Academy answered with 10 unanswered points prior to the Knights’ fourth-quarter score, as the War Eagles got a 23-yard field goal by Martin Rodriguez and a nine-yard scoring strike from Ryan Glover to Sultan Shabazz for a 10-7 lead midway through the third quarter. Glover completed five of 14 passes for 74 yards and rushed 10 times for 62 yards.
