Spring sports scores from Thursday

The Class AAAAA second-ranked Clarkston boys soccer team added another win to their so-far stellar season with a 9-2 outing over Lithonia. Ruben Manowi put the ball into the back of the net first with a goal in the first five minutes of the game. Lithonia equalized with a goal of their own at the 20-minute mark, but the Angoras senior captain Elie Tshamalala scored the go-ahead goal in the 31st minute.

From then on Clarkston began to turn up the heat, scoring five unanswered goals to take a commanding 7-1 lead. Achier Soumaine and Bashir Mohamed we’re first to start the scoring spree, followed by an own goal from the Bulldogs. Sillmona Kisle put in the sixth Angoras’ goal before Haftom claimed his second of the night. Lithonia found their footing in the 61st minute with the team’s second goal of the night, but two more shots from Oh Htoo and Bombi Valentin made it past the Lithonia keeper to put the game away. Clarkston now awaits their tough matchup against Norcross tomorrow night.
